Technology that makes a difference

Happy New Year to all. My first post in 2010 and I know I’m a little late but nevertheless here I am.

Ever since my Dad purchased my first computer for me during my elementary school days, I got hooked. I started pursuing Computer Engineering but over time moved into what I do a lot today, web development/design and support. But as my focused changed from Engineering to Web, I also realized that I didn’t want to just be a technology guy, but that I wanted to use technology to do 2 things – serve and connect people. My desire is to make a difference in peoples lives or to improve their quality of life – and this is what I work to do everyday, with every site I develop and every line of code I write.

I read an article today on CNET.com (click here for full article) about using technology to make a difference in someone else’s life. At the time of this blog, the people of Haiti suffered a major earthquake, with many lives lost. However, the American Red Cross is using technology to make it easy for us to donate to their relief efforts. The only thing we have to do is TEXT “HAITI” TO 90999 to donate $10 to the American Red Cross. How cool is that? That’s what’s called using technology to make a difference.
